What you see here is a woodpecker enjoying a drink from the hummingbird feeder. And this isn’t just a one-time thing. I see it every day. I only wish I knew whether it was the same clever little guy every time, or if several of them have picked up this trick.
On a side note, I have a few hummingbirds, but not nearly as many as last year. I don’t know whether it’s too early to have a lot, or if they’re just not here this summer. Or maybe Woody Woodpecker chased them away!

that looks like a lot of sugar water in that feeder, the bird store I go to said you should change it every 3 days. Maybe your water isn’t fresh and that is why you don’t have as many. Just a thought, I really know nothing about birds. I just got my first feeder a few weeks ago and love it.
