Getting ready to decorate this new house is daunting. I have lots of ideas floating around in my head but I am not totally confident in my choices. The first decision I came to was that I want the kitchen to be an islandy, oceany blue. For many years now I have resisted having any blue at all in my decor. I guess now I’m ready for a change. I have to give some credit to my sister because she’s the one who put the idea in my head for these bright colors, a year or more ago.
I went to Lowe’s last week and browsed paint colors. I thought I wanted a greenish blue, so I was quite surprised when I realized I didn’t like any of the greenish shades, only the true blues. I picked up several paint chips and was showing them to my realtor while we waited for the attorney at my closing on Friday. She advised me to go to Ace Hardware and pick up some samples of Benjamin Moore. I was a little disappointed in the selection. I didn’t see anything that was exactly what I’ve been picturing, but in the hopes that paint on the wall looks different from paint in a little jar, I chose these three to try. I really like the blue green, although I’m not sure how well it would go with a cottage theme. But it looks really pretty in the jar.
How close will your new table be to the kitchen area? Maybe once you find the fabric you like for your chairs, you could take that fabric to a paint store and have them custom mix a color for you.

At Lowes and Home Depot you can have samples of any color mixed, choose from their chips or bring in a sample (pillow, fabric swatch…) to match. Our new kitchen is blue and our master bathroom is going to be a dark teal blue.

I love blue! I think the one in the middle looks good. I think I saw a commercial the other day for little paint samples like that from Home Depot (Glidden, I think). Tip: The paint always looks darker when it’s on the walls. Also, you can pick out a color anywhere and they can match that color wherever you want to buy it… I picked out colors at Lowe’s and went to Walmart to buy the paint. They matched it exactly, and it was much cheaper!
